Jamie's Revealing Your Why Testimonial

After completing my Breakthrough Session with Ray, I was excited to start his Revealing Your Why class. My new, unburdened mindset felt incredible… if only I knew where focus all my energy. Prior to starting the course, it was my understanding that finding my true motivation in life would cause every decision I make on a daily basis to be easier. I wanted that clarity.

In the course you discuss the five main “houses” of your life: Career, Family, Relationships, Fitness/Nutrition, Personal Development, and Spirituality. Your “Big Why” should apply to all of them. Ray says the course is called “Revealing Your Why” and not “Creating Your Why” because it’s something that’s been inside us from the time we were a young child. At first, this was an intimidating thought to me. I didn’t feel like I had lived my life with very much motivation or reasoning behind my actions and choices. “Maybe I don’t have a Why…” I thought to myself. I can assure you, that’s not true. Not for me, and not for you.

After the first session of the course, I knew my Why had something to do with creativity. That’s about all I knew. Ray says a lot of people figure out their Why, or at least an initial idea of it, in the first class. I was not one of those people. As much as I tried to put pen to paper and write a statement that felt compelling, nothing came to me. For the next week, I would open my journal and stare at a blank page with the words “to be creative” at the top and nothing else.

In session two, we were asked to describe the person we needed to be in order to live our compelling futures. This part came easier to me. I still didn’t have my Why, but I knew who I needed to be if I was going to look back at my life and feel accomplished. Writing these statements on paper felt powerful. I edited and rewrote these statements several times over the next couple weeks until I could read each one of them and smile, knowing they described the exact person I was striving to become.

The third session focuses on value elicitation. I had already elicited my career values with Ray during my Breakthrough Session, so I decided to focus on Relationships this time. Ray teaches you this process from start to finish so you can do it with every “house” and I encourage you to do so. I learned a lot about myself through the value elicitation process. It is interesting how your perspective can change when you are forced to write it down.

Still, after the third class… after gaining so much insight into my core… I hadn’t revealed my Big Why. I was not discouraged by this. I knew I was going somewhere with my new understanding of myself, even if I didn’t have the language yet. Then one morning, as I was setting aside my journal for the day, the words started flowing. I began writing down everything I was thinking as fast as I could, even if it didn’t make any sense. Ray says when you reveal your Why, it should make you cry or sweat. It should be so powerful that it elicits an extreme emotion. I call this moment, the moment the words came together on paper… my F YES moment. I had it. I had the words and they were perfect.

I must have read that statement fifty times that day, maybe more. With every read, my smile and excitement increased. The clarity was there. I knew my motivation, exactly who I needed to be, and exactly what I needed to do in order to live my dreams.

Every day I wake up to those words hanging on my wall.

Every day I read them.

Every day I live those words.
